Health Checks

Just like humans, dogs and cats experience age-related changes—but much faster. By the time your pet is just two years old, they’ve already reached adulthood. By age four, they may be entering middle age, and by seven, many are considered seniors—especially larger dog breeds.

That’s why regular health checks are essential. At The Visiting Vet, we recommend at least one comprehensive check-up per year to help detect and manage health issues early. Because pets age so quickly, even six months can bring significant changes. Regular assessments allow us to screen for conditions like heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity—giving your pet the best chance at a long, healthy life.

During your in-home visit, we’ll also review vaccinations and parasite control, including protection against fleas, ticks, mites, heartworm, and intestinal worms. It’s also a perfect opportunity to discuss nutrition, behaviour, dental care, or any other questions you may have—all in a relaxed, familiar setting for your pet.
